At Supperly, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and application (collectively, the “Service”). Please read this policy carefully. By using Supperly, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, profile photo, and authentication credentials.
  • Recipe and Cooking Data: Recipes you import, create, or save; cook session history; favorite recipes; meal plans; shopping lists; and playbooks.
  • Family and Household Data: Information about family workspace members, dietary preferences, household size, and family member profiles you choose to add.
  • Inventory Data: Kitchen inventory items, quantities, and expiration dates you track within the app.
  • Usage Data: Information about how you interact with the Service, including pages visited, features used, cooking streaks, achievements, and session duration.
  • Device and Technical Data: Browser type, operating system, IP address, and device identifiers collected automatically when you access the Service.
  • User-Generated Content: Comments, reactions, photos, community recipe submissions, and poll responses.

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Process recipe imports from URLs, YouTube videos, Instagram reels, and photos
  • Generate meal plans, shopping lists, and nutrition estimates
  • Enable family workspace collaboration and sharing features
  • Track cooking streaks, achievements, and leaderboard rankings
  • Send notifications about expiring inventory items, meal reminders, and account updates
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Monitor and analyze usage trends to improve the Service
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues and security threats
  • Respond to your support requests and communicate with you

3. AI Features and Data Processing

Supperly uses artificial intelligence to power several core features. When you use these features, relevant data is sent to our AI service providers for processing:

  • Recipe Parsing: When you import a recipe from a URL, YouTube video, Instagram reel, or photo, the content is processed by Google Gemini to extract structured recipe data (ingredients, steps, cook times, etc.).
  • Nutrition Scanning: Recipe ingredients may be analyzed by AI to generate estimated nutritional information.
  • Meal Plan Generation: Your dietary preferences, household information, and existing recipes are used to generate personalized meal plan suggestions.
  • Playbook Processing: Text, URLs, and YouTube content submitted to playbooks are processed by AI to extract and organize recipe information.

AI-processed data is used solely for providing the requested feature and is not used to train third-party AI models. AI usage is subject to per-account credit limits that vary by plan tier.

4. Family Workspace Data Sharing

Supperly is designed for families. When you join or create a family workspace, certain data is shared with all members of that workspace:

  • Recipes added to the shared workspace
  • Meal plans and shopping lists
  • Cook session history and cooking streaks
  • Dietary preferences and household profiles
  • Kitchen inventory and expiration tracking
  • Comments, reactions, and poll responses
  • Achievement progress and leaderboard standings

Family workspace members are invited by existing members via invite links. You can leave a family workspace at any time. Data you contributed to a shared workspace may remain visible to other members after you leave.

5. Community Recipes

When you share a recipe to the Supperly community or make a recipe public, the recipe content (title, ingredients, instructions, photos, tags, and your display name) becomes visible to all Supperly users. You can remove a community recipe at any time, which will remove it from public visibility. Copies saved by other users to their own workspaces will remain in those workspaces.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or compliance purposes.

Certain data may be retained in encrypted backups for up to 90 days after deletion. Community recipes that have been saved by other users will remain in those users' workspaces but will no longer be attributed to your account.

8. Children's Privacy

Supperly is designed as a family application and we take children's privacy seriously. In compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):

  • Children under 13 years of age may not create their own Supperly account.
  • A parent or legal guardian may add children under 13 as family members within their family workspace. In this case, the parent or guardian is responsible for managing the child's data and consenting on their behalf.
  • We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without parental consent.
  • If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without proper parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

Parents or guardians may contact us at hello@supperly.app to review, update, or request deletion of their child's information.

9. Cookies and Tracking

Supperly uses cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:

  • Essential Cookies: Required for authentication, session management, and core functionality. These cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics: We use Sentry for error tracking and performance monitoring. This may involve collecting technical data about your browser and device.

We do not use advertising cookies or sell your data to advertisers. We do not engage in cross-site tracking for advertising purposes.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: You can update or correct your personal data through your account settings or by contacting us.
  • Deletion: You can request deletion of your account and personal data by contacting us or through your account settings.
  • Export: You can export your recipes in PDF format through the app. You may also request a full data export by contacting us.
  • Objection: You can object to certain processing of your personal data where we rely on legitimate interests.

11. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal data, including encryption in transit (TLS/SSL), secure authentication, and regular security reviews. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Last updated” date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically for any changes. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
